Introduction to Seed

Seed is a fertilized ovule
It has an embryo and food materials well protected by a seed coat
There are a variety of seeds in shape, size and color
When the conditions are favorable the seed gives rise to plant
Seeds are classified on the basis of the number of cotyledons in the embryo
The angiosperms are divided into two classes
Dicotyledons- Embryo with two cotyledons
Monocotyledons- Embryo with one cotyledon
