Introduction to Cell Biology

The cell is the basic structure in any living organism.
Robert Hooke was the first to view the cell in 1665.
The cell theory was proposed by Schleiden and Schwann in 1839.
A cell is made up of cytoplasm and nuclei.
A cell is obtained from another cell by the process of cell division.
The study of cell is Cell Biology or Cytology.
The structure of a plant cell is made of Cell wall, Cytoplasm and nucleus.
The cytoplasm has living and non-living components.
The endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi bodies and mitochondria are living components.
Sugar, fat, protein and oil are non-living substances.
In certain plant cell like Prokaryotes the Nucleus is seen as DNA or RNA.
In eukaryotes the nucleus in the main controlling body in a cell.
DNA and RNA comprise of the genetic codes of the plant.
Nucleus is made of a nuclear membrane, nucleoplasm, chromatin reticulum and nucleolus.
